or any other GRC and call for by-election in that GRC?

Just thinking whether the old man's balls are still intact to invent this fix to end their agonies.

If ever the old man has such funny ideas, he will be in for a shock! I do not think this dirty old man would resort to his dirty tricks again in the case of Hougang.

Dare he risk the possibility of losing more seats in a GRC? The coward son LHL wont.

With due respect, this old man is capable of doing anything before other world leaders even dare dream of.

CPF, COE, ERP, GRC, Stop at 2, stop chewing and the list goes on.

It would not make sense to me for AMK GRC to have a by-election (whether or not it includes Hougang as a ward) this year, simply because PAP had already won AMK GRC last year and all the AMK MPs are still sitting in the House, so to speak.

But I think it's obvious that PAP has the "constitutional right" to redraw Hougang into AMK GRC at the next nationwide elections in 2016, just like how it has redrawn so many other GRC wards or SMCs into other GRCs during the past couple of decades...

There's also a chance that Potong Pasir SMC may be redrawn into one of the GRCs beside it...

bro,

me was thinking the possibility of re-drawing boundaries for the constituencies is 吃饭戏 for the incumbent during GEs, but for a by-election at Hougang at this instance, me don't recall any restrictions set on the changes in the electoral boundaries.

but as we look at it now, the entire Hougang SMC is surrounded by Aljunied GRC, there will be an uproar if any part of the Aljunied GRC is touched or modified for this upcoming by-election :D:D:D

ED under PMO can redraw any boundary including any opposition ward in a GE. However for a BE, they can redraw ruling party ward boundary only.

thanks for the affirmation, bro :):):)

That's the backfire from gerrymandering strategy of surrounding Hougang SMC with Aljunied GRC.

ED under PMO can redraw any boundary including any opposition ward in a GE. However for a BE, they can redraw ruling party ward boundary only.

To add, Hougang SMC MP seat is vacated but it's town council is still under Aljunied GRC with WP as caretaker. If PAP has a GRC adjoining Hougang, they can actually call for a merged BE, but they have none. See the above, backfire.

This old man is still capable, provided his balls are still intact, in springing a suprise by ignoring the boundary demarcation without touching Aljunied. Read what he proudly declared below particulary the last 2 sentences.

"I am often accused of interfering in the private lives of citizens. Yes, if I did not, had I not done that, we wouldn't be here today. And I say without the slightest remorse, that we wouldn't be here, we would not have made economic progress, if we had not intervened on very personal matters - who your neighbour is, how you live, the noise you make, how you spit, or what language you use. We decide what is right. Never mind what the people think." - Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew, Straits Times, 20 April 1987
