Scenario:

A leader of a band of robbers rampaged into a mismanaged bank and stole all the money from it's vaults.. He became a Leader.......

The Leader of the Band of Thieves held on to the money first and then started to give the money back to the poor people.

The People rejoiced and he earned their Trust and Love. The People always looked upon him as their true-blue champion just like Robin Hood and His Merry Men.

With the passage of time, the Leader of the Band started to give himself more and later started rewarding the fellow thieves in his band.

Slowly the money to the poor was turned off. Special taxes were introduced in the name of progress.

The welfare of the citizens was forgotten but that of his band of robbers increased. Cronyism, corruption and nepotism crept in and his children, relations, close associates and cronies became rich via the corridors of power.

The citizens suffered and the thieves enriched themselves with the blessings of the leader of the band.

Many years later the People realised their folly and started to work towards redemption.

Is this Leader of the Band a true Robin Hood or Robber?

What about his accomplices?

Are they Guilty of Crimes Against the State?

Thank the leader for his life's work and learn to stand on your own feet. Unless the people are spoilt and need a Robin Hood to spoonfeed them.

And of course, if the robbers are guilty of what you accuse them of, they should be tried and punished according to the law.

First, the “bank” was not mismanaged to start with. The British ran a tight ship in Hong Kong as well as Singapore. There were more than sufficient reserves, so much so that Sinkieland, as a newly formed republic, could still lend money to other countries using these reserves.

Second, the leader of the band of robbers is not Robin Hood. It is a false analogy. Robin Hood came from the poor and he robbed the rich to give to the poor. This AhLeeBaba came from the rich. His wife’s family was even richer.

Third, the motive was never to help the poor but to protect the privileged position they had under colonial rule.

Fourth, if colonial rule could have continued, they would sit down quietly and obeyed the British and continue to make money and obscene riches under the protective umbrella of the Ang Mo Crown. However, world events made it impossible to preserve the status quo. The masses were agitating, drawing inspiration from the emergence of New China. The Brits themselves were facing pressures at home to withdraw from far flung places and concentrate more on helping their own people. In other words, the true motive of AhLeeBaba and his closest allies was to preserve their position. They were pro status quo or as close to status quo as one can get and FAKE anti-colonists.

Fifth, the Robin Hood people were the true leftists of the era, who were used by the true rightists masquerading as fake socialists. In other words those people detained under Operation Cold Store:

think Robin Hood is a rich man by birth ?

lky apologists would say that some sacrifices like "operation cold store" was necessary then to achieve the greater cause.

“A king does not bargain for the loyalty that every subject owes him.” Really?

A true Robin Hood, will tell the king to go and fly kite, like this:

But Robin Hood would sue you, if you tell Robin Hood to fly kite..for you are insinuating that Robin Hood is up to no good.
