"Acting Minister for Manpower Tan Chuan-Jin said today (27 Nov) that the no-show at work by SMRT PRC bus drivers is an “illegal strike”. He did not mince his words. He was speaking to reporters at a media conference today.
He said under the law, workers of essential services in Singapore have to give 14 days’ notice to their employers if they want to go on strike, thus complying with the law.
Mr Tan said the protesting PRC drivers have crossed the line by taking matters into their own hands. This, he said, is not acceptable as their actions have affected essential services and industrial relations.
He said the government views the matter seriously and has zero tolerance for it."
When they decide to prosecute the strikers after the police investigations will those drivers be around?
Are their passports being withheld?
Who will be responsible when they abscond....the investigators or the minister?
