If it is thermostat spoil only, then can repair. If compressor spoil, then buy new one.
If I dun take it, another karang guni man will take it.....but I've to do it at night when my neighbor is sleeping.
It cost so much to repair home appliance in Singapore and so better to replace than repair, same as HK. If you live in Thailand, then it may be worthwhile to repair. Even if you repair some parts, another part may break down and then it doesn't
last long.
When my neighbor was fast asleep, my kakis and I took his dumped fridge and the next day, had it repaired.
I like to report it is working fine now and it's just the timer and thermostat that needed to be changed. The compressor purrs like a kitten. Now, to sell it off as good and make some money.
One thing about fridges, whether new or old, after moving them, never switch them on immediately. At least wait an hour or so, resist the temptation to "test" it immediately. Supposed to affect the exchange of gases, etc which will lead to premature failure. Our electronics guys gave us this tip when delivering our fridges. Supposed to be the same for air con compressors as well.

I have a neighbour who is with SIA drawing a high salary. He stubbornly refuses to buy a fridge his reason being that he can buy fresh grocery or other foodstuff from 24-hour outlets in the neighbourhood. His wife holds the same view. If he needs ice cubes or crushed ice, he can always buy it from 7-11 stores. He has a point. When I tried to sell the idea in my house, my wife threatened to throw me out. Such is fridge addiction in some households!
