Is it time to consider a Solid State Drive(SSD)?

dun suka suka format SSD, you are killing it.....

Video Pro has it in their price list for $235
http://www.videopro.com.sg/scanpl.php

:) Thanks! Seem that it's way higher than what is claimed by seagate's forum - with rebate US$90.

I can foresee a future tend of HDD adding internal flash cache in additional to RAM cache. This Seagate hybrid is the beginning of it. Currently only using as read cache. Later we will see more flash capacity and with both R+W cache.:)

Spore prices are always higher than what the americans are paying :(
In the US the hybrid drive only costs US$149, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...6670&isNodeId=1&Description=momentus&x=13&y=9

why is a bad idea? FYI i'm talking about the speed.

raid on ssd only improve the file transfer speed, startup/running application speed are not affected, unless you are using your computer just for transferring files, it does not help you. raid increase data loss and affect garbage collection.

I can see you have no idea about SSD, why dun you give advice about things you know, like thai gals.

US price does not include sale tax yet, highest 11% average state 8%. Do you calculate that?

not if you use quick format, which is the way i format even old magnetic harddisk for ages, who still use the traditional format, quick format does not damage ssd. There are no special way to format ssd, i never heard of such bullshit.

no it does not, raid on ssd does not improve application startup or anything, only file transfer.

Fyi HDD tests on ssd on raids are much higher than single ssds. Then again who's talking about application start ups? If an app takes 1 sec to start up what diff if it takes half a sec to start up. Still this doesn't mean that using ssds on raid is useless it's better than a single ssd.

wah this one u have to teach me, I DUNNO!

i start up the program on a thumbdrive then i use this feature that does internal erase of the ssd and it's as good as new. Don't listen to singveld he uses right click on the ssd and then quick formats it. OMG what a laugh and then mentions traditional format does not damage ssd? OMG.

raid on ssd does not turn app startup from 1 sec to half a sec, you obviously know nothing about ssd and raid, stop making a fool of yourself here. you and your buddy.
