<!-- START OF : div id="storytext"--><!-- more than 4 paragraphs -->RECENTLY, my 70-year-old father was admitted to National University Hospital for surgery.
On the day of his discharge, the consultant reviewed his condition and gave the green light for him to go home. It was about 5.30pm.
We were told to wait for his medication, and this turned out to be a long wait. We kept asking the ward nurses if we could pick up the medicine ourselves, but each time, we were told that the porter was on his way. By the time my father got his medicine (only two types) and we left the hospital, it was 8.50pm.
By then, all of us, especially my aged parents, were exhausted, physically and mentally.
Is it normal for a patient to wait almost three-and-a-half hours to collect medication? Will my father be charged for an additional day of hospital stay through no fault of his?
