Several members of Iran's reformist movement reportedly requested Israel's support for a regime change process during the first week of Operation Rising Lion.

Prominent figures in Iran’s reformist movement requested Israel’s support for a regime change process in Iran during the first week of Operation Rising Lion, London-based Iranian opposition network Manoto reported on Saturday.

A well-informed source in Israel confirmed the report in principle and said that among the signatories of the letter were several prominent reformists.

“If Israel supports us in the process of regime change, our candidates are fully prepared to take over the administration of the country,” the letter stated.

Potential members of an Iranian government

The letter listed several potential members of a future Iranian government, including Mostafa Tajzadeh, a senior figure in Iran’s reformist camp, and Hassan Khomeini, the grandson of Islamic Revolution leader Ruhollah Khomeini.

Also named in the letter was Hassan Rouhani, the former President of Iran.

The letter has not yet been answered by the Israeli government, but an Israeli source told Manoto that Israel “is not prepared to respond to such requests and will not embark on such a path.”
