IP MAN calls interpreter a traitor !

I watched the rerun of the 1st series of IP MAN.

One of his disciples started working for the Japanese army as interpreter when Japan invaded China.

There was a scene when IP MAN slapped him and called him 'running dog'. The disciple was flabbergasted and screamed: 'I am not a running dog; I'm only an interpreter.'

IP MAN retorted: 'How could you watch your comrades die and not do anything ? Running dog !'

The disciple said: 'I'm not running dog ! I'm only an interpreter!'

Is IP MAN being fair ?
