Motorists trying to enter or leave Singapore this morning via the Woodlands Checkpoint were greeted with massive traffic jams and delays this morning as the ICA experienced "intermittent slowdowns" in their systems.

ICA explained that the crowd was made worse with the upcoming Hari Raya Puasa holiday causing larger crowds than normal.

The "system slowdown" occurred between 10am and 10:45am this morning coinciding with the peak period.

ICA explained that they immediately deployed more resources to the woodlands checkpoint to try and move the queue faster.

ICA said that they are currently investigating the cause of the system slowdown and they assured the public that they "take a serious view" of such incidents and have a contingency plan in place to ensure that security is not compromised as they work to speed up the queue.

The ICA also reminded the pubic that there are large crowds going through the land checkpoints around this Hari Raya Puasa holiday and motorists are advised to check the traffic situation at the checkpoints before leaving home.

To check the traffic situation, motorists can call the traffic info hotline at 6863 0117. Information is also broadcast on the TrafficWatch on radio and LTA's websites also show traffic information at One Motoring and MyTransport.SG portal.

By checking the traffic, travellers will be able to better plan the time needed to travel to Malaysia and may be able to avoid the crowds.

This is just the same old plain bullshit they keep telling everyone. The plain fact is that the Singapore government is not happy that Singaporeans are going to Malaysia to spend their monies there. To deter more people crossing they create this chaos.

We know how they operate, efficiency when it is in their favour. This perennial jams that occur daily is not a difficult problem to resolve. The imposition of 3/4 tank rule and the tough screening of vehicles began when Malaysians tourists stopped visiting Singapore due to higher prices. If the ICA were to be more efficient, many more delighted Singaporeans would not hesitate to visit Malaysia to splurge leaving Singapore businesses getting bankrupt. Petrol stations, car repair workshops, shopping malls, NTUC, retailers across the country will be crying for business.

Slow down caused by inefficiency. Nothing related to system slow down. Are we having an inferior system as compared to Malaysia?
