Be very careful when you eat because the big lump of pork inside also has soup inside. Advise you to make a small opening for release of pressure first before you bite is as soup will sure burst out. I don't know what to say its damn delicious. Very very hot too be very careful please.

Opposite this stall is the BEST XIAO LONG BAO in Shanghai.

Each basket is 12 pieces and starts at 15.50RMB for pork, I ordered 2 baskets of pork mix with crab meat 25.50RMB. Their special is 100% crab meat and cost 99RMB for 12 pcs that comes in 2 baskets as they are larger. This all crab xiao long bao is the ultimate and worth every penny. But then to eat 12 pcs myself is very jelat can do but after feel no good. All dumplings are very soupy inside so be very careful.

Just want you guys to know after eating all the above for lunch and teabreak now I in hotel feeling very jelat and jialat tonight cannot eat anymore.

I was taken to a 饺子 restaurant once in Pudong called the 新梅陇镇。They served 108 types of 饺子。 Could not find it anymore. Anyone can help?

Good afternoon Fook Seng. I am in Pudong airport now waiting for my flight to Bangkok. I think I've found out what you are looking for. I was told yes there is a restaurant in Pudong area serving 108 types of 饺子 by the name 长安饺子楼. As I was staying in Huangpu district the person told me there is a branch in 云南南路. So I went there. I was surprised that they do not have 108 types but there are many types. The manager told me that their brach in Pudong has more and used to have 108 but cut down because many not popular. He told me that shop is also bigger at 浦东大道民生路1588号. I am not sure if this is the one but can try. Anyway I am not impressed by the quality and found it quite plain and miserable the way they serve. This is pork and cost 25RMB for 4 liang I ordered only one and a beer this morning.

I did not finish the above because seriously I am more of a 小笼包 person. So I went for a walk at 城隍庙. I bought many Chinese New Year deco and I think they are very beautiful. I will take some photos after I set them up this week.

Anyway as I was craving for beef noodles I asked around local Shanghainese shop owners. 2 of them pointed out to me a shop name 老头面馆. They warned me its very local and not for tourist as the place is very rundown but assured me the food is very good and clean. I took a short walk there on 侯家路. Sure enough the place looks rundown even from the outside. Downstairs someone will ask you what you like and you need to order the noodles there. He then ask you to proceed upstairs and tell them again what type of noodle you want. The stairs is . . . not so clean looking and very narrow and dark. Anyway even before I sat down the guy downstairs already came up with the noodle.

Anyway even before I sat down the guy downstairs already came up with the noodle. Then another very old lady brought me a small bowl of beef (see pic on the left small bowl) for me to dump into the noodle. Because it was very cold the noodles looks steaming hot and it smells fantastic. Smells like chinese herbs. I also ordered minced beef balls wrapped in tao-kee skin. The beef balls is very soft and when bitten feels like biting into 狮子头, juicy flaky and delicious. As for the noodle, the texture is very smooth and soft, I have to say this is one of the best noodles I've eaten

Thanks for taking the trouble but regret that you did not like it.

I really have to run now, taking off in 30mins.

Last photo show the inside dark and very old. Worth to eat at this place because its popular among the locals. The 45mins I inside I spoke to mostly old people and they enjoy the conversation because they asked me so many things about Thailand. Really nice and shall I say cozy too.

Bye guys

Jackie's Not His Match

This guy was really fast - short and sharp, right to the point. No flowery stuff. Jackie cannot lah. Nunchukas or nunchakus ? A great extension instead of using fists. I think a switch knife or a stick will be practical. Nunchakus are banned but not knives.

My side kick is very strong. The poor sandbag was almost ruptured and leaking. Pow ! Like a gun fire. Fast and powerful ! I think can kill (broken ribs) or at least a KO.

................

second the recommendation on the all crab dumpling. soupy hot inside and full of flavor. goes well with ginger and vinegar. needs to eat one on a spoon in order to contain juice. after piercing, drink juice from spoon and slowly bite on dumpling. guarantee orgasmic experience. combine that with thoughts of the complete flavor of shanghai. since crabs are caught off local waters during crab season, everything that shanghai consumes, has, is and discharges goes into water. crab consumes crap, and the special shanghai crapcrab is born. every flavor of shanghai is concentrated in that crawling crustacean, and you can call it the shanghai scavenger. one bite and one will be in heaven. unforgetable experience. what goes into mouth goes out again in the other orifice, and the cycle continues. very environmentally friendly. a reason why it is also called a dump-ling. :D

Thanks a lot buddy, you damn grotesque. LOL.

Anyway crabs in Shanghai not from longkangs la. They are bred in lakes.

小笼包 is better to be eaten whole because you do not wish to waste the soup inside the dumpling. If feels good witht eh dumpling exploding inside your mouth taking the entire flavour in. However you have to be very careful as it is burning hot inside. One simple way I do to cool it down a little is since one will eat with the vinegar just place one 小笼包 on the small sauce plate containing the vinegar and ginger for like 15 secs and then its ready.

The all crab 小笼包 found in 佳家汤包 are larger than normal 小笼包 so its quite impossible to have it all at once, for this you can still use the above method to cool it down a little but after place the entire 小笼包 on the porcelain soup spoon and bite on it slowly while slurping the soup inside.

I found the below pic from google of the 佳家汤包's all crab 小笼包. As you can probably see one basket is only 6 小笼包 and each order of 12 comes in 2 baskets unlike the normal 小笼包 which comes in 12 per basket.
