Serious Indonesians buying US Ospreys! RSAF not frightened?

More for humanitarian missions. They can't even fly their bigger air force cargo planes to disaster areas due to short runways. Ospreys solve this problem. Fly like a plane, land like a chopper.

In tge case of palu, sulawesi, the runway damaged due to earthquake. It took many days before help arrived.

Chopper flight distance 300 miles.
Heavy lift chopper even less.

Osprey 1500 miles easy

Provided the Osprey is mission capable.... yah but the Sikorsky S-61R can do 750+ miles.
But ultimately it is the Indons who will have to live with their decision.
SG's theatre of ops is small enough to have our Chinooks do 300 nautical miles.

Why do u need a military helicopter for humanitarian work....these governments are a joke......yeah yeah next we will be buying the s400 launcher......for humanitarian

And how fuel efficient is that....

How do you you measure efficiency, and how does an army measure it? If you have to send stuff from Jakarta to Manado, would you prefer a direct osprey flight, or a chopper that has to stop and refuel 3 times?

Just ask Singkie SAF for help.
Indonesia can outsource their humanitarian logistic task to Singapore. Don't waste money buying all these years toys. Indo too can't do a good job running the machine.

Singkie will be the light of South East Asia.

They face volcanos, lava flows, tsunamis, earthquake. What do you know about tragedies except the threat of foreign workers?

Nobody in south east asia trust a sinkie.thats why they have to invest further away.in china, australia and india are the nearest.

I know what humanitarian work is.....the question is why do u need to buy war machines to carry out humanitarian work?

Billion dollar carriers masquerading as hospital ships,I could probably retro fit a cargo ship to do the same thing, put doctors and supplies and equipment on it and at the fraction of the cost.....and focus the money on actually saving lives.....and save ten times more lives.

All these nonsense just to justify their shiny military budget.

An osprey?why not a Chinook?why u need to fly 1,500 miles?to carry out an attack operation?if ur doing rescue work ur probably taking off from nearby not flying 500km just to save someone.....not to mention it's just a fancy plane chopper with terrible fuel efficiency, and a small ass cargo, can't carry much cargo or people and expensive as fark to operate.

Any other flying machine that can land verrically and fly as far as the osprey?
Indonesia has 3 time zones.

If ur going to be conducting rescue operations will u be taking off someplace closer or flying from 700km away?they would probably choose an air field within 100km as their base of operation.

In this case, you can fly direct to the point where its needed most.

They are most likely not going to just make one trip to rescue a few people......it's obvious they will set up a base of operations as close to the site as possible and move all their equipment, transport and personnel there....

It's not like going to war u have to fly into enemy territory hundreds of km away and the enemy is not going to let u take off from their nearest airport....

And no one buys an osprey just to rescue a few people, even companies do calculations how many thousands of people have to die before it's more cost effective to change a brake pad or install a seatbelt......otherwise they just leave it to the insurance company.

The osprey comes in first. The navy ships follow up. The nearest port will be the base station.
