Man charged with extortion

AN INDONESIAN national allegedly threatened to post semi-nude pictures of a woman on the Internet if she did not give him $20,000.
Amir Adriyansyah, 30, is accused of extorting money from the 39-year-old woman by putting her in fear of injury to her reputation, and dishonestly induced her to deliver partially, $12,500 to him.
The alleged offence took place at Fragrance Hotel in Joo Chiat Road on June 28.
He is remanded for a week for investigation.
If convicted, he faces a jail term of between two and seven years and caning.
