"the pain an ordinary Indian feels at such frequent discrimination and marginalisation?"
Brother Confuseous, I am sorry but I have to disagree with you stating that the Indians here are frequently discriminated and being marginalised.
On the contrary the Indians in Singapore, ie those born, raised, schooled and working here, are all very highly educated and many hold top jobs in the Civil Service. Judges, Magistrates, senior SAF and police officers, proffessors, lawyers, doctors, pilots, businessmen and many many more. These high positions are held by many Indians. We even have Indian politicians both from the opposition and the proposition.
Our schools produce top students who are Indians. This has happened so many times. We have good Indian authors, writers and philosophers here.
Look at the way Indian festivals are celebrated here. The authorities even close up roads to facilitate the smooth celebration of Thaipusam. The motoring public may be inconvenienced by these religious processions but accept it in their stride, as they respect the fact that the Indians are part of our country.
I have many Indian friends who frequent Chinese 7th Moon Festivities in August, attend Chinese weddings and even funerals. I have even seen Indian boys (for that matter Malay boys too) taking part in Lion Dances.
So many Malays, Chinese and others have Indian husbands or wives. All this are clear indicators that the Indians are accepted always and have become a part and parcel of Singapore.
