I have to agree with this guy....8 million is possible...but why stop there....15 million also can....bangkok does it, mumbai too.
But at what cost?
We tend to get very upset at these things but to know what is really going on you have to ask yourself: who benefits with this population surge (which will mainly consist of cheap labour)?
Isn't it the big MNCs that ultimately invest in singapore? You can't underestimate their bargaining clout. What they need to stay competitive is cheaper costs, labour being the main component.
If they are not given these concessions, they will want to invest elsewhere.
All this country has is foreign investment, once that goes, things become even harder.
Despite who you think is responsible for this state of affairs, I can assure you there are much bigger players moving the pieces around on the chessboard.
So brace yourselves....you can't stop a damn thing. And please don't keep bringing up 2016...won't change a thing. No matter who governs, the shots are called by big business.
