The Indians are very tricky and very smart. They know that no one in the world cares about the Commonwealth Games. They are are under no illusion the world does not think it is an important sporting event. Unlike the PAP, who deluded themselves into thinking the YOG is so important, the Indians realise that the Commonwealth Games and the YOG are events similar in world attention, i.e. none. The Indians are smart enough to not get conned by someone like Rogge.
So what do they do to gather nightly world coverage of their event and heavily promote it for free? They arrange to conveniently collapse a 6 ft high bridge that no one needs, and that certainly able bodied people can simply walk on the ground to the venue. Also, they created a lot of fuss about dirty and unprepared Olympic Village, so that the world press will cover all these things. 2 weeks ago, the world did not know that there was even a commonwealth game being held in New Dehli, now hundreds of millions of people know this.
is this smart or what? Unfortunately, while India has the smart Indians who are paid poorly in Rupees, S'pore have the stupid Chindian paid in the millions $. Vivian the Chindian should have collapsed one or 2 venues, put dogshit in the athelete's rooms or something like that to garner world press attention. Than perhaps the YOG might not lose as much money as it has. Sorry is our lot.
