Ladakh standoff: Indian army beats China in occupying strategic height near Pangong lake southern bank
Indian Army on Monday occupied the height on the southern bank of Pangong Tso, which can give advantage to the side which holds it for controlling the areas around. Sources told news agency ANI that a special operations battalion was recently inducted into the area. On the night of August 29-30 moved into the area and occupied the heights from where Chinese troops were present barely a few hundred meters, said sources.
According to sources, two brigade commander level meetings have already been held in Chushul/Moldo for resolving the matter and the tension but it has not yielded any result.
"Height occupied by Indian Army troops including a special operations battalion is south of Southern bank of Pangong Tso near Thakung. Height was lying dormant and can give strategic advantage to the side which holds it for controlling the southern bank of lake and areas around it," the agency reported quoting sources.

They said the height is in the area under the Indian side of the LAC but the Chinese also claim it to be on their side.
PLA Western Theater Command earlier said Indian troops violated the consensus reached at "multi-level talks" between the two countries.
"Indian troops have violated the consensus reached at the multi-level talks between #India and #China and again crossed the line of actual control at the border on Monday and purposely launched provocations," PLA Western Theater Command was quoted as saying by China's state-run Global Times.
This came after an Indian Army spokesperson said Indian Army has thwarted an attempt by the Chinese Army to transgress into Indian areas near the southern bank of Pangong Tso near Chushul in Ladakh on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday and talks are being held now to resolve the issue there.

"On the night of August 29/30, PLA troops violated the previous consensus arrived at during military and diplomatic engagements during the ongoing standoff in Eastern Ladakh and carried out provocative military movements to change the status quo," said Army spokesperson Colonel Aman Anand in a statement.
The Indian Army took measures to strengthen its position and "and thwart Chinese intentions to unilaterally change facts on the ground".
India and China are engaged in a standoff since April-May over the transgressions by the Chinese Army in multiple areas including Finger area, Galwan valley, Hot springs and Kongrung Nala.
The talks between the two sides have been going on for the last three months including five Lieutenant General-level talks but have failed to yield any results, so far.
The Chinese Army has refused to withdraw or disengage completely from the Finger area and seems to be buying time to delay its disengagement from there.
While efforts are underway to resolve the ongoing border dispute, India has rejected the Chinese suggestion to disengage equidistantly from the Finger area in Eastern Ladakh.

These Chinese are paper army.
Good at telling people that how they great missile and ship and aircraft.
But in a mountainous fight, China can't use these assets to their advantage.

In such fight, the only way to win is to have a better fighter. Who dare wins ? Now China is so rich and people are getting more and more comfortable. Who will want to fight and die ?

Don't be so sure.

CECA infested stinkiepore.

CECA surely infested all stinky social media, fora, media too.

Take CECA media with a grain of salt.

Except Tiong/Norkie/Viets/Stinky i.e. chink dictatorships, nobody can approach CECA level of BS.

The chinks have always been useless when it comes to fighting a foreign power.

The PLA excels in shooting its own unarmed citizens though.

On May 18, four ships of the Indian Navy’s Eastern Fleet set out for a two and a half month long operational deployment to the South China Sea and North Western Pacific, according to a recent press statement by the Indian Ministry of Defense.

“In a demonstration of its operational reach and commitment to India’s ‘Act East’ policy, the Indian Navy’s Eastern Fleet, under the command of Rear Admiral SV Bhokare, Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet, sailed out today,” the press release states.

The small naval force that left the Indian shores today consists of the 6,200-ton Shivalik-class guided-missile stealth frigates Satpura and Sahyadr armed, among other things, with supersonic anti-ship and land-attack cruise missiles; the 27,550-ton Deepak-class fleet tanker Shakti, one of the largest surface warships in the Indian Navy; and the 1,350-ton Kora-class guided missile corvette Kirch, armed with sub- and super-sonic anti-air and anti-ship missiles.

No chance in hell. The Tiongs can't handle the high altitude. And they don't trust an army consisting of native Tibetans.

All India has to do is stop all ships sending food and oil to China (passing through Straits of Malacca) and China is fucked. Good luck fighting a war with no food and no oil.

tiongs had to high tail back to tiongsua in invasion of vietnam as viets proved too much for the pla to handle. the casualty ratio was way out of whack, sumting like 6.9 to 1 in favor of viets.

Tiongs could have conquered vietcong land n the viets sued for peace. Tat why the tiongs withdrew. The tiongs did wat the yanks failed to do. Also the viets had Soviet support and wanted a limited war. If the tiongs were determined they could have conquered Hanoi. This time round. There are no threats to the tiongs at all. The russkies will not help ah neh land. The ah nehs are toast

how to when almost all pla tanks and apc’s sent to vietnam were destroyed? a total of over 420 armored vehicles including tanks and apc’s. it was one of those rare offensives where almost all armored vehicles were lost. very humiliating and embarassing for prc and the pla. that was why pla even with half a million men could not go any further and had to balik kampong with tail tucked between its legs. and after suffering devastating casualties of nearly 69k men.

i don’t suka suka humtum without basis. my numbers and arguments are based on facts from 3 sources: pla estimates and claims, viet estimates and claims, 3rd party reports and estimates from non-prc and non-viet sources including western intell and then soviets who aided the viets.

I doubt the tiongs have anything to fear.

How to Sink a $3 Billion Dollar Submarine: Forgetting to Close a Hatch
Simple mistakes can lead to really big trouble.

“Arihant is the most important platform within India’s nuclear triad covering land-air-sea modes,” the Hindu reports. Well, it’s important if it works — and it probably helps to make your submarine watertight.

The modern submarine is not a simple machine. A loss of propulsion, unexpected flooding, or trouble with reactors or weapons can doom a sub crew to a watery grave.

Also, it’s a good idea to, like, close the hatches before you dive.

Call it a lesson learned for the Indian navy, which managed to put the country’s first nuclear-missile submarine, the $2.9 billion INS Arihant, out of commission in the most boneheaded way possible. The Hindu reported yesterday that the Arihant has been out of commission since suffering “major damage” some 10 months ago, due to what a navy source characterized as a “human error” — to wit: allowing water to flood to sub’s propulsion compartment after failing to secure one of the vessel’s external hatches.

Water “rushed in as a hatch on the rear side was left open by mistake while [the Arihant] was at harbor” in February 2017, shortly after the submarine’s launch, The Hindu reports. Since then, the sub “has been undergoing repairs and clean up,” according to the paper: “Besides other repair work, many pipes had to be cut open and replaced.”

(This article originally appeared at Task & Purpose. Follow Task & Purpose on Twitter. This article first appeared in 2018.)

It’s hard to articulate how major a foul-up this is, but Kyle Mizokami does a good job at Popular Mechanics: Indian authorities ordered the pipe replacement because they “likely felt that pipes exposed to corrosive seawater couldn't be trusted again, particularly pipes that carry pressurized water coolant to and from the ship’s 83 megawatt nuclear reactor.” For context, a submarine assigned to Britain’s Royal Navy narrowly avoided a complete reactor meltdown in 2012 after the power sources for its coolant system failed.

The incident is also quite an embarrassment — and strategic concern — for the Indian Armed Forces. A Russian Akula-class attack sub modified to accommodate a variety of ballistic missiles, the Arihant represented a major advance in India’s nuclear triad after its completion in October 2016. (India in 1974 became the 6th country to conduct a successful nuclear test.) Indeed, the Arihant’s ability to deliver K-15 short-range and K-4 intermediate-range nuclear missiles was envisioned as a powerful deterrent against India’s uneasy nuclear state neighbor, Pakistan.

“Arihant is the most important platform within India’s nuclear triad covering land-air-sea modes,” the Hindu reports. Well, it’s important if it works — and it probably helps to make your submarine watertight.

This is just some sloppy, dangerous seamanship, and the Indian Navy better get its act together fast. Either that, or perhaps follow the Royal Navy’s lead and install the 2001-era Windows XP as an operating system on all your most vital vessels. That way, you can blame the blue screen of death instead of “human error” for the next critical foul-up. Although even outdated software probably knows enough to dog down on all the hatches.

Pla has the largest standing army in the world. Even in the casualty rate is 10 to 1...the tiongs can absorb such losses n move on. Remember the yanks lost in korea due to the tiongs

all that is bs now with paltry replacement due to one-child policy. the largest army may have the most men and latest weapons but there’s no guarantee of victory without the guts to fight, lives to lose, and less than one for one replacements.
