It is already been felt in pre-season games, I counted no less then 30 English youngsters involved in the top 6 clubs.

Just to get some perspective. Each club can only register 25 players over the age of 21 of which 8 are homegrown, and can field any numbers of players under the age of 21.

Think about it, 25 is not a lot, some will gets injured, red carded and each position will likely get one coverage, very thin margin for errors. That is why in this pre-season, youngsters are thrown in the games to get experience so as not to be caught off guarded.

Interesting and refreshing seasons ahead!

Another reason the youngsters are appearing in pre season is because many of the senior players have just returned from holiday and are not match fit.

There will be more talented youngsters playing in the BPL because of the rule, but some may not be playing for the top clubs. Generally, teams use 20 to 30 players over a season, except probably Aston Villa.

Liverpool and Chelsea may have problems registering 25 players. They don't have 8 homegrown players at the moment. Unless they go on a buying spree, they may keep and play their youngsters.

Man Utd and Arsenal will probably send their youngsters out on loan. I think both Welbeck and Cleverly will go, hopefully to premier league teams.

Don't think Man City and Spurs will play many under 21 youngsters. Man City needs to get rid of at least 12 senior players if they don't want them idling around.

Of all the clubs, Roy Hodgson is the most panicky, perhaps this is a season of rebuilding. So 9 Liverpool youngsters were tested including Raheem Sterling, who is just 15, but what a little chilli padi, got yellowcarded for going into a tackle on a player twice his size.

Another 15 year old, Nathaniel Chalobah of Chelsea was also involved. Another player to watch, cool and compose on the ball, a player oozes maturity way beyond his age.

The more impressive English youngster are Jack Wilshere, who play as a central midfielder and Josh McEachran, playing in the hole for Chelsea. Both featured in all pre-season games.

Anyway, here are those who are involved ( Uncapped English player ).

Man Utd
Danny Welbeck, Chris Smalling, Tom Cleverly

Aston Villa
Marc Albrighton, Nathan Delfouneso, Cliran Clark

Spurs
Danny Rose, Dean Parrett, Klye Walker, Klye Naughton, Andros Towsend

Arsenal
Jack Wilshere, Kieran Gibbs, Jay Emmanuel Thomas, Craig Eastmond, Henri Lansbary, Mark Randall

Chelsea
Josh McEachran, Scott Sinclair, Rose Turnball, Daniel Sturridge, Nathaniel Chalobah

Liverpool
Martin Kelly, Nathan Eccleston, Steven Irwin, Tom Ince, Jay Spering, Jonjo Shelvey, Stephen Darby, David Amoo, Raheem Sterling

Yes, but definately more then 30 players for bigger clubs. However, they now have to decide upfront who to register? So it is absolutely neccessary to ready their youngster.

Thanks for the list.

Smalling will feature but he is probably 5th choice centreback. But if you consider the first 4 choices are Ferdinand, Vidic, Brown and Evans, he will probably play a lot.

Delfouneso, Rose, Wilshere, Gibbs, Eastmond, Sturridge and Spearing have featured and will certainly feature in the new season.

Are you sure it's Rose Turnball of Chelsea and not the reserve keeper, Ross Turnbull?
He's already 25.

You may be right about Gibbs and Wilshere being called up. It was reported that they may be included in the preliminary squad of 32 to be named later today.

"Psycho" Stuart Pearce named his under 21 squad yesterday.

Frankie Fielding (Blackburn Rovers), Alex McCarthy (Reading), Ryan Bertrand (Chelsea), Phil Jones (Blackburn Rovers), Martin Kelly (Liverpool), Michael Mancienne (Chelsea), Chris Smalling (Manchester United), Kyle Walker (Tottenham Hotspur), Marc Albrighton (Aston Villa), Tom Cleverley (Manchester United), Jack Cork (Chelsea), Jordan Henderson (Sunderland), Victor Moses (Wigan Athletic), Fabrice Muamba (Bolton Wanderers), Jack Rodwell (Everton), Danny Rose (Tottenham Hotspur), Andy Carroll (Newcastle United), Daniel Sturridge (Chelsea), Danny Welbeck (Manchester United).

Am surprise Jack Rodwell is in the under 21 squad, thought he would be selected for the senior team.

Instead, it looks like Cattermore, who is Pearce favourite is likely to be included in Capello team. The other potential for the senior squad is Dan Gosling.

I think Manchester City are more panicky. Last heard they have to de-register about 10 foreign players to fit in the new ruling. Also, old ruling was English, Welsh, Scottish, Northern Irish (UK) and even Irish (non-UK) were considered homegrown players. New ruling only recognises English and Welsh as homegrown, not even Scottish.

Just to clarify, the rule is:
"A home-grown player means one who, irrespective of his nationality or age, has been registered with any club affiliated to the Football Association or the Football Association of Wales for a period, continuous or not, of three entire seasons or 36 months prior to his 21st birthday (or the end of the season during which he turns 21)."

Fabregas of Arsenal and Fletcher of Man Utd are also considered home grown.
It relates to English and Welsh clubs, not the nationalities of the players.

I have not seen all the players in action from the under 21 squad, but I consider Rodwell as the player with the most potential.
He's skilful on the ball, good in the air, makes a good pass, has a powerful shot, tackles well, will be a complete midfield player one day, something like Bryan Robson if he keeps improving.
Cattermole is more a "destroyer" type of defensive midfielder, while I really don't think Gosling is better than Rodwell. Gosling has just joined premier league newcomers Newcastle United.

Thanks. Clear now. No wonder Arsenal kept qualifying without any problem though they're obviously and practically all-non-British nationalities. Arsene Wenger is smart, have to give that to him. With Wenger, who needs Napoleon?

Marc Albrighton of Aston Villa started the game against West Ham and had a very good game in a comfortable 3-0 win.
Agbonlehor was injured, so Albrighton started on the right flank with Downing on the left and Young pushed forward to partner Carew. A bright prospect.

Cattermole was sent off in the first half for Sunderland against Birmingham. At that time, his team were leading 1-0, and they went on to draw 2-2. A combative player, but not a great one.

Clark also started for Aston Villa. Marc Albrighton looks a bright young prospect, have almost similar style and energy to Tom Cleverley.

Clark had a solid if unspectacular game. He was in the side only because Collins, Cueller and Curtis Davis were all injured.
Tom Cleverly looks a really exciting player, he played very well for England under 21 against Uzbekhistan.
Fergie has decided not to send him out on loan this season. Claims that he can score goals from midfield.
