Anti-PAP website, the States Times Review, has announced that the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) has geo-blocked a new website linked to its editor Alex Tan for refusing to take down 8 inflammatory articles.
Tan earlier said that he is shutting down STR after the authorities blocked his website for refusing to remove an article that linked Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong to the 1MDB scandal.
Tan said that he helped an unnamed netizen set up the new website called The Singapore Herald after he shut STR down.
The Singapore Herald has now been geo-blocked in Singapore as well. STR reported today that the new website was blocked after its supposed editor refused to take down 8 articles that the IMDA had flagged.
In an article on the matter, the Singapore Herald echoed STR’s appeal for readers to download a VPN service so they could mask their IP address and continue to read the new website.
The article also made untrue allegations that the publisher of The Independent Singapore, Mr Kumaran Pillai, has been charged with defamation.
This is untrue. The Independent Singapore has neither received any summons Nor has it been charged with criminal defamation.
