If you see a rape in progress? Will you intervene?

Yes, more should follow example of brave Australian

AUSTRALIAN Ivan Batterham's actions described in his letter last Saturday, 'Turn a blind eye to violence?', deserve praise. He witnessed an act of violence, and intervened.

A common attitude among members of the public is to keep oneself safe by not courting trouble through interference.

Such an approach of non-confrontation, also known as the bystander effect, plagues many modern fast- paced cities.

Mr Batterham's public-spirited act had a positive effect. Once he had intervened, several onlookers were emboldened to participate. The woman bystander who asked him to leave intended to pre-empt a physical conflict between Mr Batterham and the assailant.

More people should step in to support him. I hope the girl who was physically abused will be more aware of the ways she can obtain help and protection, such as from the Association of Women for Action and Research or by making a report to the authorities.

I urge Singaporeans to follow Mr Batterham's example of standing up to wrongdoing in public. Certainly, one should also do so sensibly.

If the situation is potentially dangerous, call the police.

I will not intervene if I see you being raped in progress. I will even complain the rape is not progressive enough.

My only polite request to the rapists is not for them to leave you alone but for me to urinate and spill cum on your face as your punishment.

Rape, fuck. Really. You think too much about such things, that's why you look like the middle-aged mat salleh in your avatar.

It would depend on who's being raped.

Yes, I once saw a rape in progress. I was in New York. At 630am I woke up and was brushing my teeth by the 3rd floor hotel window. I noticed one chio blonde chick jogging with big headphones... a van drove past. SEVEN BIG BLACK MEN jumped out, four grabbed her, spread her eagle on the floor, and one used a cloth to cover her mouth. One guy acted as lookout and one proceeded to fuck her. This went on in a damn organized rotation until all where done. Two of them held firearms.

Along this process one old lady walked by... she saw, and go stun and walked the other way. I called the police. Police never came.

You intervene? Siow.
