1. be shocked to understand why as the car approaches and hit the pedestrain.
2. heck care and accelerate to hit the pedestrain.

in both cases, the pedestrain will definitely be hit!!

the newer buses have powerful brakes, should be able to stop.

saw a suicidal couple doing that months back at Lavender, luckily the bus managed to swerve.

I think there will also be many drivers who will try their best to brake in time or to swerve.
But I take your point, as I suspect that there will be many who will be too shocked and just run the person over. Singaporeans tend to be very sheltered and are shocked when the unexpected happens. Need a lot of guidance and hand holding.
