if you are truely on the ground, and not stuck in your office and in your work and coming onto the internet spamming posts, you would see that many industries and companies are suffering, including coffeeshops and other neighbourhood stores. They are suffering from the lack of workers n cleaners.

Sometimes as an employer, a business ... See Moreowner, you feel as if you are not treated like a Singaporean. With employees and others chanting that you are greedy, you are exploitative and more recently, if you are not "productive", you should close down. MOM regulations also protect the employees but not employers.

A business hires several breadwinners, several more subsidiary employees, and supports his own family and extended family. However, treated like outcasts. We work 24/7, and our minds are always on the business, but the populist chant of "you do not deserve it", yet the usual employee work 9-6 but expect more, expect a cushy job, can throw down their work and disappear, leaving you to pick up the pieces, and too snobbish to do anything else.

So b4 u go on business and employers bashing, pls remember that they are the ones that pays you, that they are the ones who took the risk and got the capital, please remember when the company is not making, they don't get a cent but you still get your pay.

When he decided to start his own business, he should have known about the risk that he took on at the same time. Yes, its his capital, but he's not working for an hourly rate or fix pay. If the business soars, he reaps the returns. Would he incorporate profit-sharing with his employees? Probably not. So why is it wrong for workers to demand a fair market rate for their time and lifeforce helping with his business?

When the foreign population were left unchecked, employers benefit from it, creating an uneven playing field for the employees. In turn, consumption goes up because of the foreigners, benefitting his business directly. At the same time, he can employ a foreigner cheaper than a local, improving his profit margin, making him all the richer.

So, instead of running a small business, hiring locals and paying a proper wage and reaping a small but decent profit; with the flood of foreigner dollars and cheap labour, he is able to expand his business at breakneck speed, all the while lusting for cheap foreign labour and the consumption that comes along with it.

Its an addiction that can't be stopped. Also, if you pay someone a decent wage i dont think most won't keep baying for blood. The market forces for wages is unbalanced and tilting in favor of the employers at the moment. So, dont give me bullshit on employees are protected.

Everyone knows this country is probusiness. Also, without workers, you wont be able to run your business empire. Respect should be mutual.

Everyone, be it workers, boss, MIWs, etc., has a price that will trigger them to act/not-act.

If the owners did their business case and are prepared to act, the will not be any shortage of workers.

For example, pay the MIW millions of dollars in salary to prevent them from being corrupt, even if they are not doing much to help the citizens who'd put tem in power.

If the business owners are so good, they should become MNCs and then they can source for their labour from elsewhere. We will see if they can still survive when they can't operate under the protection of the benign SG environment.

No self-respecting people will allow their government to import hordes of foreign workers to produce goods and services for their consumption or export. It may be good for a section of the population but it marginalises a huge swath of society. They may not be able to do anything about jobs lost offshore but to lose jobs onshore? Incredible.
