Nobody likes Pinky because he thought red dot can punch above its weight. IBM proves him wrong.Did the sinoloa cartel pressure IBM to relocate the factory to their territory?
It would be interesting to see what tax benefits were given to IBM by EDB when they started here and if so, whether the SG govt has the right or guts to claw back on these benefits enjoyed by these MNCs at the expense if taxpayers. Problem is everything is opaque and pretty non accountable ....Nobody likes Pinky because he thought red dot can punch above its weight. IBM proves him wrong.

That's the problem. It's never transparent and the public doesn't know what tax benefits etc was given to them and whether there are quotas conditions on hiring local PMETs. Everything is hidden from the public eyes.Sources says that IBM open shop here at 2010. We don't know what type of benefit they receive from EDB.

tax and land grant benefits must have expired after 6.9 years thus the migration. after 6.9 months into paying full bill without tax and land grant relief, cost must have spiked and it hurts the bottom line. it requires an additional 6.9 months to give (early) notice and move. timing is about right. That's the problem. Nope, I have seen some EDB conditions going up to 20 years... It's usually pegged to expansion over the years...And commitments to bring in more jobs but do not not have quota conditions for hiring locals ... Hence you have seen hordes of Indians coming in because HR also foreigners and they will snake around to hire more foreigners than locals. I have even heard absurd rubbish like they can't find accountants, he professionals etc in Singapore and have to bring into from overseas... Don't worry. PAP is good at attracting money and they recognise the money is in China now. Expect more China firms to have regional office here. More tiongs in condos, restaurants, casinos and high SES places. Long live PAPThe resident Pappie dog has a point. If IBM is willing to relocate to a drug and murder infested country with all sorts of shootings etc as opposed to a safe and well connected Singkieland. It's obvious Singkieland has a problem
