1. Hotel bell boy who carry my languages up to my room

2. Waiters in hotel restaurants

3. Waiters in ramen shops

4. Waters in bigger restaurants and western restaurants

5. Taxi drivers

6. House keeping who clean my room

Please advise me also how much I should give.

Thanks Leongsam, the reason I asked is because just a short moment ago a frenchman took my 4 pieces of luggage up my room, I know he must be a manager or at least a supervisor or something like this because he told me he couldn't find any staff and so he brought it up for my wife and I. Then after placing he bags in the room he sort of like gedek-gedek in my room and didn't want to leave and I felt a little awkward. However I told him merci boku, arigato, thank you then he finally left. I did not give him any tip because I felt that if he is a manager I should not give him but if he is a worker I would have happily given him. So this is why I asked.

Yeah, I tipped a bellboy once and he was so angry that he drove a van over my body. All the other bellboys just walked by and left me for dead. From then on, every time I travel to Japan, I make sure I carry my languages up my room myself.

Just woke up from a 2hr nap. Damn jialat man, traveled all night and morning.

Hey I did a little walking around while looking for lunch, found that prices here in Sapporo is very reasonable like food and also clothings. I am comparing to Tokyo and Osaka because I remembered last 2 time I went there it gave me an impression that its bloody expensive. Pretty happy with here. And hey the tap water taste damn nice.

Sapporo ramen very good. Got once I go Isetan (Singapore) got Sapporo ramen fair. Free small cup for tasting. Damn good. I bought a pack (for 2 servings). $7. Ex but good. How I wish I can go Sapporo but cannot. I think I'll die within 2 days in that temperature.

There's no need to give tips in japan ..unless u want to go hostress bar .

Try drinking Tokyo tap water and u will be surprise , all houses in tokyo are fixed with our own fliter stystem .

Bro ... If u are the customer u don't bow .. Even if you bow it's not those 90 degree bow just a simple nod will do . Those extream bow which your head stay there for about 2 secs is for asking forgiveness .

As for greeting a Japanese a simple handshake also can ( because you are non Japanese , they will still accept it ) unless u want to impress them that you know their culture ...a simple bow will do .

Of course bro , tourist like you don't know where's all the cheap things are . Japanese housewife knows where and what time to buy the cheapest food at their finger tips ..
