Hawker Centre
This is not the first time that the PAP Government had broken the rice bowls of Singaporeans.
During the 1990s, there were two old ladies (aged 65+) operating a wanton noodle stall at a hawker centre rented from the HDB.
It was about this time that HDB decided not to be a landlord, and insist that all business owners – operating from HDB shop units and hawker stalls – should purchase their stalls and shop units at a price to be determined by “private valuer”.
This resulted in the two old ladies being forced to purchase their stall for a price of over S$250,000 – which required a loan to be taken from Hong Leong Finance.
It took less than a year for the two old ladies to be made bankrupt when their business turnover could not meet their monthly loan payment by installments.
This is the thoughtless manner in which the obscenely over paid PAP Ministers, PAP Members of Parliament and Civil Servants no longer have any empathy towards the small operators trying to make a living for themselves and their families.
