Quasi-industrial pulped by murmurs of retrofuturism and the kaleidoscopically colorful greeted as we first set foot in Lyf Funan's lobby - a rather huge departure from the typical austere co-living circumstances originally envisioned, then again different might be interesting. Btw heads up, they've got some trippy Phoenix darts machine domiciled onsite; contrarily the magentish, neon-emblazoned public lavatory rechristened "Royal Flush" nonplussed us plenty. Logging our arrival entailed supplying the god's honest truth to a QR code-instigated web questionnaire - this wasn't quite hassle-free though owing to much flustered back and forth transpiring ad interim.
Our okay sized One Of A Kind Plus studio elucidated luxe pauvre: vanilla glazed interiors hedging single solid wood queen platform bed amalgamated with well-fitted kitchenette, swish monochromatic bathroom abutting. Clean, bright and comfy yee-haw. The too Smart TV however inexorably pulled a go-tech-or-go-home on our digitally uninclined asses; we waved the white flag after wrestling with 'em controls for 15 minutes straight.
Communal amenities arise out the wazoo: open plan lounge, lovely ginormous shared kitchen, nearly always incandescent canteen, razzle-dazzle laundromat, lilliputian gym packing more cheese than iron (seriously lol @ that clichéd "Don't wish for it, work for it" wall decal quote). Yet supposed spitballing central here belied a stilted undercurrent eddying, what with residents seen doing his/her own thing matter-of-factly - no small talk, no palling around. Dang. Really?
