yuckss....but digging is not the best way....the wax could be stuck to the eardrum membrane and an inexperienced doctor could damage this membrane if he tried to forcefully remove the wax.

Another way would be to apply some oil based liquid ...a few drops twice a day for a week to moisten and loosen the wax and then flush the wax out.

some kind of small jet syringe..Once the wax is moistened its quite easy to flush out. Better than digging which has inherent risks ...even if slight.

the doc will draw water into a medium size syringe ( the same way he draws blood from people except this syringe is a little bigger )

Then he will squirt it into the ear while you or his nurse will be holding a small pan for the overflowing water and wax.

i didn't know such a sophisticated method for getting rid of ear wax exists. looks ticklish though. don't suppose u can just walk into a clinic and ask to have your ear cleaned?

hi bro...it all depends on how hardened the wax is and how much wax. If you ear or sometimes both ears produce a lot of wax and you hadnt cleaned them frequently then over time the wax will build up
If not too much and still 'soft ' the doctor could use some instrment to get it out. But if he thinks that its too hard already then a good doc will not take chances and will get you to put the oil solution for a prescribed period....usually about a week.

Then he will flush it out.
