Take this headline in the Straits Times for discussion, “Briton and family leave for Perth amid threats”?

What would the readers think if they did not have the full story? Would they think that this City state is not safe for foreigners and foreigners are being threatened with serious harms and forced to move out for their own safety? If one is a foreigner in the US or UK or Australia, and planning to come here as a mercenary, to find paradise on earth, would one be having second thoughts?

Would the embassies be sending out travel warnings to their citizens to warn them of the risk if they come here? Or this is intentional, to tell the foreigner not to come here?

This is a very interesting and controversial headline indeed. Maybe a bit of sensationalism but with selected truth. It is true that Anton claimed that he was threatened. Anyone done any investigation that this is indeed true? What kind of threat, life threatening, serious, genuine, or some bloggers sputting nonsense in the net using Anonymous like the hackers?

Still a good headline to catch the attention of the readers. Maybe I shall write an article with a headline, ‘Xenophobic Sinkie hordes threaten life of talented expat to run for his life from Paradise’? Would this be sensationalism, a bit of half truth?

Death threats ?

Did Anton Casey offended the Muslims buy calling them smelly ? Well good to know he now has a price on his head.

I hope all those who issued death threats are hunted down and thrown in jail for an extended period. We can't have low down locals threatening violence and getting away with it. Law and Order has to be maintained.

That would be ideal. This country is FULL and it is time to seal the doors shut. All who come to this country will either be tourists or guest workers with no chance of settlement unless they have made extraordinary contributions. Time to put up a sign at Changi Airport," WE ARE FULL.100% FULL CAPACITY"

If the government doesn't act, the law of nature takes precedent. You are big advocate of letting human nature dictate, so you ought to support the actions of threatened sinkees.

Poor Sinkies feeling threatened by a few unkind words of an insignificant dickhead. Don't worry Papa Lee will take good care of you and help you through this traumatic period.

The country may be full but useless locals are taking up valuable space. They should be moved somewhere else so that more talented individuals can fill the vacancies created.

Is that why you moved?

Yes. At the age of 40, I had reached my "use by" date so I moved on to make way for new blood.

If all Singaporeans were as pragmatic as I am, they'd do the same thing instead of hanging around where they are no longer welcome.

Singapore for Singaporeans only.

Anton Casey should count his blessings he insulted Singaporeans.

If he had insulted the people of Malaysia or Indonesia, he'd have a fatwa on his head by now. Perth would be no escape. He would be hunted down from Singapore to Swaziland.

Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia ..... all countries full of insecure people with inferiority complexes.
