Human Barbie Valeria Lukyanova Admits Her Photos Are Photoshopped

People who comment negatively on them are just jealous

Valeria Lukyanova is a young woman from Ukraine who calls herself a model and whose goal in life is to look as plastic as possible. Barbie-plastic, to be more precise: she is dubbed Human Barbie and she often makes headlines with her photos, her interviews and her claims that she’s 99% percent natural.

A couple of days ago, her most recent batch of photos (a garden photoshoot “celebrating” the arrival of spring but serving to show off her ripped muscles and a body even more disproportionate than before) went viral.

She’s now ‘fessing up to Photoshopping them.

Human Barbie’s photos aren’t what they seem

You can see the photos in question in the gallery below. A simple glance and it’s no longer a mystery why they went viral: with her long blonde hair and perfectly immobile (and expressionless) face, and her perfectly Barbie-esque body, Valeria looks more like a caricature of a woman than an actual woman of flesh and bones.

This is not a negative judgment on her: she wants to look like a plastic Barbie and that’s what she’s achieved. However, she says she hasn’t gotten to this stage by resorting to plastic surgery (excluding the breast augmentation): it’s all down to dieting, working out and excellent makeup skills.

Previously, she had also said that there was no retouching of any kind to the photos she posted online.

Apparently, at least this last part changed with the newest batch, because she admits in an email to Complex mag that she did, in fact, have the photos Photoshoppped.

“My best friend [took the pictures]. The pictures are photoshopped to achieve smoothness and color correction. The pictures were taken in the botanical garden on the phone. They were not high quality. I had to edit them in order to correct the defects of the phone picture,” she says.

She makes it sound as if nothing about her body was altered, but she’s not denying it either, which could mean that she did.

Haters are just jealous

In the same email chat, Valeria claims she had no idea if people reacted negatively to her newest photos, even though, just hours before, she had posted a very passionate message to Facebook in which she lamented the negativity directed at her online. Also there, she explained how she had achieved her new, leaner and more muscular look.

Asked how she handles the haters when they come after her, Human Barbie says she ignores them, most of the time. They’re not worth her time because, if they take time out of their life to try and bring her down, that must make them very sad people who aren’t happy with their own body.

Beauty like hers is bound to cause envy, she reasons. So naturally, people who aren’t as gorgeous as she is, and who are profoundly unhappy with the way they look, tend to criticize her. James Franco’s character in “The Interview” said it best:
