Turn out size not important, what is important is whether they are from Hougang or not. I am pretty sure everyone here will agree that at least 80% of the WP turnout wasn't from Hougang so at the end of the day big turnout at a BE got what use
Char_Siew embarrassing himself once more If the size of the crowd at the WP rally had absolutely no bearing on the BE result whatsoever, 154th wouldn't have scrambled to pen an article bringing to attention the decrease in the size of the turnout.
Just see the photo. The stage set up near the seat mean they already expected no crowd. If WP opposition they will set up stage at the end of the field because they know the whole field will be flooded with people.
As the old saying goes – “A picture is worth a thousand words”:

According to Singapore News Alternative blog [Link], some curious foreign workers turned up early to get front row seating in Hougang Stadium at the PAP rally. It is not known if they got free chicken rice during the PAP rally (during last GE, videos uploaded to Youtube showed that chicken rice packets were distributed among PAP rally attendees):
With regard to the PAP rally photo above, a TRE reader here has commented that: “Why wouldn’t you show the pics of the crowd in the stadium seats? why show it from the back? I saw in the ST, they are almost full. The PAP just make it more comfortable for their audiences.”Thankfully, another TRE reader emailed us this picture. Hope it helps to clarify:
this is embarassing....how can one motivate oneself to speak at a RALLY and see a crowd even less than the much criticised Sleague? must be really thick-skinned and downright disheartening
