SINGAPORE - Residents in Punggol Field are worried that their neighbourhood may become another "Bukit Batok rat hill".
A Shin Min Daily News reporter said he saw at least 15 burrows - and two dead rats near a burrow - yesterday when he visited Block 106A in Punggol Field.

According to the report in the Chinese daily, residents see rats scurrying about every day.
A 40-year-old housewife said that some of the rats are rather large, and that she would see three to four of them scurrying around each time.
Another resident said that garbage will collect at the rubbish collection point near the area, and will be cleared only after a "long time". The 26-year-old said that she has detected foul smells from the garbage "every day" and has seen rats foraging for food among the garbage.
A 58-year-old resident said he informed the authorities about the rat problem a few months back, but the situation has not improved.
