SINGAPORE - A fire broke out in a storeroom at the open-air carpark of Singapore Zoo on Wednesday at about 4pm.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it received a call at 4.04pm and deployed two fire bikes, two fire engines, one Red Rhino and one ambulance to the scene. The fire was in a storeroom measuring 15m by 15m and was put out using three water jets, said a spokesman for SCDF. No one was injured.
A 74-year-old driver, who declined to give his name, said that he saw thick, black smoke at least 7m-high.
He said in Mandarin: "I'm here to pick up the construction workers and was waiting around when I saw the smoke. I think that storeroom is for workers to put their belongings and have teabreak. Luckily no one was around."
