Hri, please don't cheapen NS by putting a price on it

Firstly, I must thank MP Hri Kumar for recongising the sacrifice by all male Singaporeans. But please do not cheapen our 2 1/2 years of National Service and 10 In Camp training by putting a price tag on it. I find it insulting when MP Hri Kumar suggest that PRs and foreigners pay additional income and property tax. Nothing can make up for the time we serve. Putting a price tag on it is just degrading and insulting to all those who served the nation, especially those who suffer permanent injuries and families of those who died during NS. It only reminds me of pianist Melvyn Tan who was fined S$3,000 and forfeited the S$30,000 security deposit when he defaulted National Service.

Do not cheapen our contribution to the nation.

Right now, in FTs' and PAP's eyes, it's worth nothing. Better it change to worth something than remain at nothing.

Either decrease our income/property tax, or increase their (FTs) income/property tax. Or preferably, both.

I've come across many people who bitched about the 2 years down the drain doing national service but who then wasted 20 years of their lives working for somebody else.

Dont let the pap cheapen NS and dont let the pap get away with allowing new citizens and PRs to benefit from SG guys' sacrifices.

Stock options are a rip off. Companies give them out because it doesn't cost them anything and the employee gets a warm, fuzzy feeling that he/she actually owns part of the company.

Unless you're a founding director, chances of making millions in stock options is minuscule for all but the very top ranks.

The Government should simply pay the university, tertiary or professional training fees of all serving NS. And open NS up to girls on a voluntary basis. We don't want masses of foreigners here, let alone people who think they have paid for being here and we owe them. How the government raises the money is their business. How does the US support the GI Bill.

Although it is the duty of all sporeans, NS is actually a racist policy that discriminates against the m&ds and a tool used to segregate society.

NS is also a way for soft specky urines to get some physical training in the hope that they will defend their chinkpore, which is a fallacy as the urines will be the first to run away if spore is ever threatened.

NS is the duty of all male Singaporeans. Why should foreigners be given the privilege?

Disgusting..they have put a price on their ministerial role..and think likewise, that service to the nation have a price tag...

U can clearly see in them ,the $$$$ is the sole role and everything comes with a monetary value...
