How to pick a good durian

Best...take it in the original fruit condition...open the durian yourself and feel the thorn massaging your palms.

Even getting one or two tiny pricks in your hands will make your durian feasting tastier..

I can say that many in the Ivory Tower do not know how to pry open a durian fruit...


By the way, durian should be eaten in this traditional way for health reasons..

We are suppose to sprinkle salt and use the husk to drink the salt water to cool off.

And we are suppose to eat Mangosteen ( a very cooling fruit ) to negate the heatiness .

That's why Durians and Mangosteen share the same season for this reason.

1. Best to buy pre-packed durians.....this is the most cock-up advice because this is the most convenient way for durian sellers to get rid of poorer quality durians. The better quality ones are always sold by whole fruits and usually by weight not to even mention about the freshness of the fruits.
2. Choosing is guesswork .....again there are proven ways to select durians....experienced sellers can tell which. Trees th fruits were from, old trees or young trees, sweet or bitter flesh, big seeds or small seeds, etc...as with all type of skills, you need practice and experience to acquire such skills....only idiots think that they know a lot about durians simply by eating a lot of durians....truly retarded
 
not really lah, I saw them opened new one by one and packed in plastic wrapper

Hey this is very nice packing, never know Singapore pack durians this way because in Thailand its packed ths way too and I like it. Nice.
 
a good durian depends on the pair of mangoes of the seller.
