Now LHL had a big problem of how to gerrymander for 2016. Will he group Aljunied, Hougang and Punggol East into 2 GRC, and conveniently push the former-chengsan and joo chiat into these area, so as to wall-off the contagion?? It is very hard for AMK and marine parade to swallow up, esp East Coast is already very shaky.

They can't gerrymander that easily as the Opposition has a parliamentary platform to chastise the PAP. And that is news that the PAP don't want the public to hear too much off.

They will carve out SMC from PRO-PAP GRC town and merge SMC from ANTI-PAP town into GRC. Potong pasir and Joo chiat will dissappear from the gerry meandering in 2016. Unpopular East Coast GRC will be redrawn to either align with Marine Parade or Pasir Ris GRC.
Thus it gives more reason for Yen in WP to lead a team to contest GRC.

The name Potong Pasir still resonate very strongly as opposition foothold, thus I doubt PAP wanted to retain the name.
You can only succed in gerrymander when you are liked in some areas and disliked in others. In the case of MIW in 2016, disillusionment will be across the board and so expansive so no amount of gerrymandering can save their souls. Singapore is too small to cut here and there. If the electorate in the east is tulan with you, how you cut also no use.
If i am LHL, i would quickly (while i still have more than 75% in parliament) to quickly change constitution to disband GRC. (this is constitution, so need more than 2-3). THat will slow down the lost, one GRC can be helm by one strong opposition to wack down the entire 5-6 PAP at one go.
It was not like Aljunied GRC, once that psychological barrier is breached, GRC work against PAP just as well.
If he disbands GRC, he would likely loose in a one to one fight against Chee or Jeya

PAP will try to catch them while they are not alert and sleeping. WP may have slapped them now. But, it is not going to be easy to slap PAP in the parliament. They still call the shot. If RP guy is there, things will be different. Ken will not have to listen to Low's command to shut his mouth up. According to Ken, he is an economist and WP has none.
