how to communicate with a deaf n mute?

it was an exceptional meeting this time with my li'l brother leetahsar. he introduced me to a deaf & mute IT professional cos the latter needs a job and LTS was wondering if i needed a new IT employee.

how to communicate with hearing/speech impaired guy?

i was really stunned! my li'l brother LTS could actually communicate with him.

i think the sign language could be the answer to unite the entire world. it's the universal language which every nationalities normal or hearing/speech impaired humans could communicate. i think it's create far lesser misinterpretation and misunderstandings.

Last time some still depend on pen and paper to communicate with rest of non hearing impaired people. Now many Deaf Mute use SMS to communicate. Best is use iPad or Galaxy Note where both can scribble their messages.

BTW, many deaf people are not mute. Just that since they can't hear themselves talk, not easy for them to articulate themselves. If needed, many can utter words but in monotone manner since they can't hear what they just said.

Don't worry bro. Know there is one Sign Language courses conducted in one the the REAL special needs school, cannot remember which one but think it is somewhere in Tanglin area . You can google Sign Language Courses Singapore. That was at least 8-9 years ago, think there should be more now.

LTS told me he learned from FCBC church where his holy cousin rules. there's even a sign language sermon every sunday. think they conduct such classes FOC but u ve to be involved in their activities i guess.

provided the other party at the receiving end knows what he's trying to convey.

what i did was write my questions on a notepad, passed it to him and he wrote with his replies. it was rather cumbersome. how would he be able to blend into a regular work place with normal people?

he's very talented in is IT but then again the communication is one helluva problem.

was thinking of recommending him to my advertising pal who won't be needing too much words. he only wants creativity translated into money-making ads.

my li'l brother LTS' dnm friend might be just the right chap for the job.
