It's possible especially if you are in the IT line. Many companies offer employees perks like share options, discounted price on the company shares,... etc

I took full advantage & would buy the maximum number of company shares permitted. After a few years it was quite a sizeable number of shares. Never sold any until the price quadrupled & even then kept the bulk of the shares.

I didn't realise that I was a millionaire until I was laid off & started to add up all my assets :)

your time was the boom, current IT industry is in the doom...

Maybe but you won't survive long in Spore if all you think about is spending $$$ without considering saving some $.
In my case I made enough $$$ for an expensive lifestyle but I lived frugally & made sure to put aside $ every month as savings. I coud have spent more on holidays, cars, & condos but I didn't.

There is no secret to getting wealthy. Just don't spend more than you make & make put away something monthly for the future. In investing this is called "dollar cost averarging" http://www.investopedia.com/terms/d/dollarcostaveraging.asp

Avoid getting into long term debt e.g. housing, car, credit car,.. Even if you don't end up a millionaire, you will still be financially better off than most.

I might be a millionaire but I still live within my means. Which means that I only spend the dividens that I make & do not touch the principal. I am also looking at getting a 2nd home in a cheaper country. There's no rush because my home in Spore is paid for & I only spend on food, electricity, water, public transport,...the basics.
