Hundreds of foreign workers crowd the Esplanade Bay area, eager for a glimpse of this year's parade and its performances.

<!-- START OF : div id="storytext"--><!-- more than 4 paragraphs -->Foreigners too did not want to miss out on the action yesterday as Singapore celebrated its 43rd birthday.
Tourists and foreign workers by the hundreds - from Bangladesh, China, Thailand, Germany and the United States - dotted the fringes of the Marina Bay area. Most of them were also decked out in the colours of the Little Red Dot.
Nanyang Technological University exchange student Michael Konvalinka, 24, who is from the Czech Republic, said: 'It really doesn't matter where we come from. Since we are in Singapore, we just want to feel part of it and celebrate its birthday together with everyone else.'
German television journalist Peter Kunz was lucky enough to get tickets to the seating gallery with his wife and three-year-old daughter.
He said he especially loved the skyline, and even the construction of the integrated resort behind the floating platform.
'It shows Singapore as it really is, always putting up something new,' said the 46-year-old.
The presence of foreigners at the country's big bash warmed the hearts of Singaporeans like Mr Gerald Wu, 23, leader of percussion group Samba Masala, one of the bands which performed at the Esplanade last night. 'It's great seeing all these people from all over (the world) gathering here to celebrate our nation's birthday,' he said.

I don't know about molesting, but these people really "Not Automatic". These are the people who will keep pushing and shoving. I was on the Esplanade bridge, there are already people there early sitting along the bridge. Which lives only about 2 persons width, for people moving to and fro. People will then stand behind those early birds blocking the bridge entirely. Of course those people include Singaporeans , but when the police come from behind to clear the blockage, it's these trash that will act blur and some even sit down when the police said that there was no standing. Else they will pretend to move away and when the police leave, they will come back. Of course Singaporean will be afraid of the police and follow instructions. :o

These people can spit anywhere and smoke contraband ciggies and you never hear about them getting fined; whereas Singaporean spitters get onto front page during SARS.

I guess this really shows how much more foreign workers our nation has imported. Not that its not good for the construction industry but sometimes it gets a bit too crowded

I think the TS is a racist. How can you call F Trash. Without foreigners, how can you get comfortable homes you are living in? Don't "dismantle the bridge after crossing it". Old Chinese saying.
