Man jailed for unauthorised access to SingTel's subscriber database
26 Jan 2013

SOURCE: Straits Times Online

A man was jailed for six weeks on Friday for illegally accessing SingTel's subscribers' database. Remi Lee Jun De, 26, pleaded guilty to one count of computer misuse at Clementi Mall on March 12 last year.

The court heard that Lee was formerly working in Novel Communication, a SingTel authorised dealer at Clementi Mall, and had access to the SingTel Portal for Electronic Allocation and Registration. The portal allowed him to perform data searches on SingTel subscribers' database, using users' identity card numbers.

In March last year, he agreed to help a loanshark runner, Chua Jin Cheng, 24, to perform screening on Spear system for a monetary reward. Chua subsequently linked him to the unlicensed moneylender known as Ah Cheng.

Ah Cheng gave some identity card numbers to Lee who used the system to get subscriber details and was paid a total of $200 by Ah Cheng for his help. A second similar charge was taken into consideration.

Ah Longs used to get mata to do the searches..........after SPF tighten the access now the job goes to Telco companies......

you mean when you borrow large sums of money, they dun have your contact one har?

where got people so gongkias one?

And that is why I am not a subscriber of any services from the red telco.

I am reminded of an incident many years ago, when Singtel (Singnet) was caught red-handed scanning the computers without the permission of the users.

Why would you give your money to a company run by unscrupulous Lee cronies?

Chua Sock Koong
Cousin of the Lees
(We have to rank her above poor old Lee Hsien Yang as she has taken over his job!)

CEO of Singapore Telecommunications Limited (SingTel)
(Family replacement for Lee Hsien Yang)
& Member of Singapore's powerful Public Service Commission

Chua Sock Koong is the daughter of Chua Siang Chin, Singapore's former Minister of Health, and so is a cousin of the Lees

(Chua Siang Chin is said to be suffering from Alzheimer's disease - another bad gene in the Lee family?)

Ms Chua Sock Koong was appointed Group CEO of Singapore Telecommunications Limited (SingTel) on 1 April 2007. She oversees SingTel’s three key businesses - Singapore, Australia and International. Prior to this, she was the Deputy Group CEO from October 2006 to March 2007.

Not fogetting Odex lawsuit against netizens then........
Singnet gave out their subscribers confidential information at the drop of a hat when asked while PacNet went to court to fight the case.......at least StarHub resisted till court orders were served before they caved in.
