How do statins fight cancer?

CRC = colorectal cancer
GC = gastric cancer. So lovastatin has no effect.
Simvastatin - that’s effective on wide variety of cancers - and pravastatin also no effect on gastric cancer in the two clinical trials. Due to low dose and extensive hepatic metabolism.
Nothing seem to work on stomach cancer well indeed.
Here say effect on GC is noteworthy but clinical trials listed say no effect. What is this?
Anyway here say cannot use as stand alone but as add on to chemotherapy as the statin required for anti cancer need to reach concentrations that are unattainable in clinical practice without inducing side effects.
