Agreed - and even if the senior head of department is a singkies and the one ultimately making the decision, the HEad of HR will filter out the singkies and only present the ones of his choosing....and say no qualified singkies applied....ever had to deal with Pinoy HR staff or Ah Nehs? They will convince you that their countrymen invented spacetravel when singkies were still in sampans.

there are all kinds of ways to fudge this and no policy from MOM can stop it unless they simply stop approving the employment permits of such expats....then the FIs will complain that there is a talent crunch and locals can't do the work and that they are losing millions of taxable profits....see where the logic flows?

The caste system in India is carried over to sinkie land when these ah nehs came over. The papee's slogan of "regardless of race, language, etc ..." has no meaning to these ah nehs. A northern Indian from ah neh land will never eat at the same table as a southern Indian from his homeland.

In time to come, sinkie land will have 2 different types of Indians who do not see eye to eye and always suspicious of each other. The papees will never be able to break the century old caste system and get them to work together. The papees are aware of this friction which is likely to affect the well being of a small country like sinkie land.

To the Chinese, no such caste system exists in China and never in sinkie land among the various dialect groups. A Hokkien is just as comfortable with a Cantonese as he is with a Hainanese. A Hokien may marry a Cantonese but would a northern Indian marry a southern Indian? Unlikely.

Ironically Singkes indian Southerners have been quite comfortable getting married to local Bayis - this has been tolerated for a long time due to the small numbers of Bayis (who are non-Hindu Northerners) but have no outward caste system (there is an internalised one between themselves but does not apply here). So if anything the local southerners are going to get even more frustrated as now the lighter skinned bayi girls can look beyond the previous pool of local southern indians and find other bayi/Punjabi Northerners - eg those two Bayis that were slapping their Pinoy gf for two-timing them... Pek Cek or what!

The effects of this open leg FT policy are far and wide and at this point in time in its infancy....only been ten years....

Ah nehs could only claim they became independent from the Brits in 1947 and started wearing their own pants while sinkie land then was still a Brit colony and sucking up to the Brits. This is the only difference.

Otherwise, how did sinkies manage to do so well after the Brits left the island to fend for itself? No FTs, no foreign aid but through hard work, sinkie land prospered.

Success in sinkie land attracted the FTs and they flooded into the country after LKY claimed that sinkie land needed FTs to survive. Now, it looks like LKY has created a problem in the time capsule and the future generation has to figure out how to solve this problem of getting rid of FTs without causing serious upheaval to the country.
