HOW CAN SINGAPORE BE EXCELLENT WITH CURRENT PAP SETUP?

Can we be a country of excellence with the current PAP setup and Ministers? SMRT exemplifies PAP. Led by ex general as well. SMRT from last GE 2011 till now still constantly breakdown and now wants to branch into Telco.

There is public service and there is profit service. Public service of SMRT is considered a crucial service. Public money is funding SMRT, why? Its Return on Earnings is already up to 2 times the median of public listed companies.

SMRT is a monopoly. With monopoly, profits remain high whether the service is poor or not. Therefore, SMRT has no incentive to divert resources to services for the public until the citizens get riled enough and the politicians feared the electorate backlash.

Now, SMRT wants to branch into Telco to make more money. That is ok if it is no

t a crucial infrastructure and not a monopoly. But it is and it is also taking public funding. SMRT is having its cake and eating it. This is what it means by ‘Growth at all costs’.

PAP wants competition for Singaporeans, yet wants no competition for themselves. They claim they are the smartest, yet they fear that others will beat them in a fair fight. They harness State resources for partisan ends, an act that can be considered criminal in the developed world.

No. It is not the workers. It is the leaders. Our students have been topping global rankings for decades, so we are not stupid? But why are one of the world’s smartest students failing in the work place? It is the policies of PAP. They have a culture that restricts creativity and innovation, our productivity has been stagnant for at least a decade. They have taken savings from the individual into the government coffers through profiteering of public housing, public health and public transport. And this fostered an insipid culture rather than an intrepid culture.

Two ways to look at this. Are we like what Lim Swee Say implied, daft? Or is it because we have a lacked of leadership. Let the dafts be those that believe in PAP. The smart Singaporeans will vote with their feet.
