TAPAH: A man was killed after the car he was driving reportedly ran over a snake before the vehicle veered off the road at Kilometre 311.5 of the North-South Expressway (PLUS) heading north, early this morning.
In the incident, the 36-year-old victim, who was traveling from Kuala Lumpur to Taiping, Perak, sustained severe injuries and was confirmed dead at the scene.
Tapah District Police Chief, Superintendent Mohd Naim Asnawi, said the police received information from the public about the incident at around 5.38am this morning.
He said, initial police investigations found that the accident is believed to have occurred after the victim's Honda Civic ran over a snake on the highway in question.
"As a result of the collision, the vehicle driven by the victim veered off the highway," he said in a statement today.
Mohd Naim said the victim suffered severe injuries and was confirmed dead at the scene
