Hougang MP Yaw Shin Leong has maintained his silence over an alleged extramarital affair.

Speaking to a reporter from Chinese evening paper Shin Min Daily on Saturday, he said he had no intention of responding to rumours.

'I have said it before, if these are rumours, then there is nothing for me to say,' he said. With him was his wife, Madam Lau Wang Lin, who also would not comment. Asked if he thought the media has gone overboard in reporting the alleged affair, he said no. He was then leaving his Bukit Panjang home for Hougang.

He later posted on Facebook a photo of himself and three others at work in what looked like his town council office, with the caption, 'chu liu kai gong', which is Chinese for 'starting work on the sixth day of the Chinese New Year'. He also explained to a netizen that he had cancelled his Meet-The-People session on Wednesday because it was the third day of the New Year.
