Went to Johor recently and bought a hot char siew bao from a shop. But the bao was not hot enough. Supposed to be heated above 60 degree C but doesn't feel like it. Came back bought one in Chinatown also wasn't hot enough.

Hot baos are sold in a bao steamer, right? Checked with the food law food sold as hot food supposed heated and maintain between 60-70 deg C inside the steamer. This kill any pathogenic bacteria found in the food like e- coli which caused food poisoning.

Few days later lau sai. Anyone kenna before?

Few days later you get lau sai, cannot be from siew bao. Normally contaminated food will give you diarrhea, vomit etc in about 6 hours.

I suffered once after eating mee rebus from a Malay stall in a coffee shop in Ang Mo Kio. Bad, I was hospitalized. I called NEA. They investigated and found food was not prepared hygienically. The stall owner was fined.

So scared of getting food poisoning? Then how do you eat sashimi and raw oysters?

If you're going on a culinary adventure here or abroad and you want some protection, eat a couple of activated charcoal tablets before eating the food.
