SHAH ALAM – A motivational expert acknowledges cases of sexual harassment in boarding schools are caused by teachers targeting children and adolescents to satisfy the desires of the same sex.
Hushim Salleh said that during his 40 years as a motivational and counselling expert, he received 3,000 cases of students who came out and shared their stories of being sexually harassed in boarding schools.
"Nearly 3,000 of these cases are those who dare to come out. What about those who have no courage, embarrassed and fear to reveal it?
"It all started with the teacher asking the students to help bring the book to their private space. Then, they will start touching the student's body parts and claiming it as one of the 'learning' sessions.
"It is a dirty tactic of teachers trying to satisfy their lust. If the students do not know that touch is a sexual disorder, they are in danger of becoming victims of homosexual sex," he said.
Hushim added he rarely encounters cases of daily school students being sexually harassed, instead it only involves boarding school students.
“If we stick to the ‘belief’ that schools are safe for children because the teachers who educate them are scientists, religious scholars and so on, then we are mistaken.
"Compared to daily school students, boarding schools are the most dangerous for children because most educators there are ‘chameleons’ because they have two different personalities.
"During the day they're educators, but at night becomes a man full of lusts," he said.
Hushim also said that most religious schoolteachers use the title ‘ustaz’ and ‘ustazah’ to hide their disgusting activities.
Hushim said that those titles deceived many parents who ended up refusing to believe their children's stories if they expressed dissatisfaction with the teacher's actions.
“Teachers are not angels, they are still human beings who have their lust whether controlled or not.
"I dare to disclose this because I have evidence, most of my clients are “tahfiz” students," he said.
