A driver was arrested on Friday after he crashed his car into three other vehicles in Tsuen Wan as he attempted to evade drug squad officers.
Police say the car was spotted by officers on Lo Tak Court after a tip-off.
When officers tried to intercept the vehicle, the driver accelerated in an attempt to flee the scene.
A video taken by a passer-by and posted on the internet shows the vehicle attempting to accelerate repeatedly when plainclothes officers approached the car.
The driver ignored demands from police to stop and get out of the car and continued to attempt to accelerate, the video shows. The car was eventually blocked by other vehicles after three vehicles were damaged.
The police officers then smashed the car’s passenger side window with a baton and leaned into the car to restrain the driver.
One officer was seen putting his hand on his holster and another shouted at the driver: “Get out or I will draw my gun.”
Police say they found 50 grams of suspected high grade cocaine with an estimated value of HK$72,000.
Two male police officers received minor injuries to the arm and shoulder during the incident.
Police said the arrested driver, 27, had a previous criminal record for drug offences. He has been charged with possessing drugs and driving offences.
