Two Sessions 2020: Beijing will announce resolution for national security legislation for Hong Kong to proscribe secession, foreign interference and terrorism
  • Draft resolution for Hong Kong law to proscribe secessionist and other activities in city to be presented as motion to National People’s Congress on Friday, sources say
  • Move would represent major shift from Beijing’s earlier position of allowing Hong Kong government to enact the long-awaited law itself through Legislative Council

Beijing will introduce a draft resolution to allow the National People’s Congress to chart legislation for a new national security law tailor-made for Hong Kong that will proscribe secessionist and subversive activity, foreign interference and terrorism in the city, sources have told the Post.
A Beijing source said the new law would ban all seditious activities aimed at toppling the central government and external interference in Hong Kong’s affairs. It would also target terrorist acts in the city.
A mainland source familiar with Hong Kong affairs said Beijing had concluded that it was impossible for the city’s Legislative Council to pass a national security law under Article 23 given the city’s political climate and hence was turning to the
National People’s Congress
, the country’s legislature, to take on the responsibility.

If Trump truly cares about democracy, he will send US troops to fight for HK. He won't because he is all talk and there is no benefit to his re-election campaign.

Hong Kong has to die for the CCP to die.

Hong Kong's special financial status is the only gateway for the CCP officials to funnel their ill-gotten money offshore.

HKD and RMB will become totally worthless, remember my words.

And now you know why Taiwan doesn't buy the 'one country, two systems' proposition by the Chicoms... they saw what happened to Hong Kong.

Never make deals with communists without expecting to be betrayed.

Over the years, the US strategy is not really to win wars. Their objecive
is to divide and rule; create tension and let these fcuk around. The US
will switch sides. Arms sales is a big revenue generator in the US - hence
the companies like Hallerburton have permanent supporters in both
Democratic and Republican cabinets.

Its the youths, university students, school going kids I think who are protesting. The rest will just accept the fate of economic collapse.

Beijing should give HK real self rule. why not. foreigners still prefer HK over Shanghai for now. China will always bail out HK economically thus HK will survive and thrive.

One of his campaign promises is that he would not get involved in wars that had nothing to do with the USA. I am happy to see that he has kept his promises.

The nation that should be defending HK is the UK. They are the ones that penned the deal with Beijing on the autonomy of HK for 50 years beyond the handover date.

HK's special financial status will be kaput.

Those of you who still have HKD (and RMB), and business interests in HK, it's time to cut your losses and cash out.

You can thank me later.

“Over the past decade, in U.S. war games against China, the United States has a nearly perfect record: We have lost almost every single time.”

Here’s a fact that ought to startle every American who assumes that because we spend nearly $1 trillion each year on defense, we have primacy over our emerging rival, China.
“Over the past decade, in U.S. war games against China, the United States has a nearly perfect record: We have lost almost every single time.”
That’s a quote from a new book called “The Kill Chain: Defending America in the Future of High-Tech Warfare,” the most provocative critique of U.S. defense policy I’ve read in years. It’s written by Christian Brose, former staff director of the Senate Armed Services Committee and a close adviser to late senator John McCain (R-Ariz.). The book isn’t just a wake-up call, it’s a fire alarm in the night.

Full coverage of the coronavirus pandemic
Brose explains a terrible truth about war with China: Our spy and communications satellites would immediately be disabled; our forward bases in Guam and Japan would be “inundated” by precise missiles; our aircraft carriers would have to sail away from China to escape attack; our F-35 fighter jets couldn’t reach their targets because the refueling tankers they need would be shot down.

Trump is attempting to fix this. No other President bothered.
