Fuck me. I havent' the slightest idea what its supposed to mean either. My daughter and her primary schoolmates ALL do this for every photo they pose and I've asked her many times before but never got an answer. To my current knowledge its was used to denote Victory, for winning something, or Peace by those hippie peaceniks of old, but why its being used by the generation today, I haven't a ghost of an idea.

Yes, many multiple fatalities occur due to people getting out of their car to attend to car problems.
Another similar accident occurred some years ago, along Braddell Road.
If I remember correctly, 3 people were mowed down when they were attending to a punctured tire.
