Indian Air Force's Jaguar jet crashes in Gujarat's Kutch; court of inquiry ordered to probe accident

An Indian Air Force Jaguar aircraft crashed on Tuesday around 10.30 am in Gujarat's Kutch region, according to reports. The IAF Jaguar was on a routine training mission from Jamnagar.

The pilot, according to ANI, lost his life in the crash. A court of inquiry has been ordered to investigate the cause of the accident. The plane's debris was strewn far and wide on the outskirts of the village, locals said.

The incident comes months after an IAF helicopter crashed in Assam's Majuli island, killing two pilots. Two Indian Air Force pilots were killed in a crash in Majuli in February, minutes after their microlight aircraft took off on a routine sortie, defence ministry officials had said.

The aircraft crashed in the river island, soon after taking off from the Jorhat air base.

An Indian Air Force pilot was killed after his fighter jet crashed near the country’s border with Pakistan, officials said.

Air Commodore Sanjay Chauhan was on a routine training mission from Jamnagar in the remote Kutch desert region of Gujarat state when the jet crashed at around 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 5, air force officials said.

“The pilot died in the crash and we have ordered an inquiry in the accident,” an IAF official told AFP.

It was not immediately clear what caused the single-seat SEPECAT Jaguar to crash. The Indian Air Force has an active fleet of nearly 160 Jaguars, mostly inducted in the early 1980s. Designed in Europe in the 1960s and 70s, 120 were built in India by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited and are known as Shamsher – “Sword of Justice”.

More than 30 fighter jet have crashed in India since 2012, with most accidents blamed on ageing jets. More than 170 Air Force pilots have died in accidents in the past three decades, mostly in incidents involving Soviet-era aircraft.

Last May, two air force pilots were killed after their Russian-made Sukhoi-30 jet crashed near the border with China.

India is investing billions of dollars in modernising its air force as fears grow over increasing cooperation between its arch-rival Pakistan and China.

New Delhi has signed a contract to purchase 36 Dassault Rafale fighters from France for $8.8 billion. The jets are expected to be delivered in 2019. The Ministry of Defence has also issued a Request for Information for the purchase of 111 new aircraft.

An Indian Air Force (IAF) pilot was killed on Tuesday when the Jaguar fighter aircraft he was flying on a routine training mission crashed in a village in Gujarat’s Kutch district, an official said.

The air force said in a statement Air Commodore Sanjay Chauhan had taken off from the airbase in nearby Jamnagar district.

“Today [Tuesday] morning a Jaguar aircraft on a routine training mission from Jamnagar crashed around 10:30 am. The pilot AOC Sanjay Chauhan sustained fatal injuries during the crash,” defence spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Manish Ojha said.

Residents of Beraja village in Mundra taluka found the debris of the aircraft and informed local authorities, including the police and the district administration. Some cattle have also been reported to be killed as the plane came down in a barren landscape.

A court of inquiry has been ordered into the matter.

Two air force pilots were killed in March after a microlight aircraft they were flying in crashed at Majuli district in Assam.

Later in April, an Mi-17 chopper crashed in Uttarakhand’s Kedarnath in April, injuring six. An IAF chopper also crash landed in Jammu and Kashmir’s Natha Top on May 23. However, all passengers and the crew were safe.

Who who is smarter? Taiwan or ABNN Modi?

F-16 more expensive, but it is a Made in India plane already, including parts, so RSAF also expected to crash like nothing.

Jaguar is cheap old junk out of production.

Al these clowns including Ang Moh's navies who can not navigate their own safety, want to fight with PLA, ended up crashed with oil tankers and cargo ships, died their own sailors and own commanders fired.
