"Paper Loss" is the nicer term. My friend told me if "impairment" more jaklat than "fair value gain/loss" :( But he never explain fully to me:(

Simple example as follows:
Book value of investment = S$900 million
Diminution in value of investment =S$700 million (Charged to P & L Account)
Net value of investment =S$200 million

The issue here : Is GIC/Temasek Holdings another Olympus ?
